How do I compress documents without uploading them?

Drop them here. The file is opened in your browser and sent to the PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or ODT tool on this site. It is never posted to a server.

Which document formats can I compress?

PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and ODT. Image-heavy scans and decks shrink most. A text-only PDF has little fat to lose, and the tool will say so rather than pretend.

Will the text stay selectable?

Yes. Pages are not turned into pictures. PDFs keep their text, links and form fields. Office files keep their words and layout; only embedded images are recompressed.

Can I compress a document to a target size?

The PDF tool can search for the highest quality that fits under a figure you name, such as 1MB for email. The Office tools shrink the images inside and report what that saved.
